The Brief

Celebrating its 115th anniversary in 2018, the Queen’s Hotel has continued to remain a local landmark in Portsmouth since its reconstruction in 1903.

Its prominent location on the corner of Southsea Common coupled with its standout design makes the hotel a key feature of Southsea’s urban landscape.

Mota were approached to create a new brand identity and website that reflected the Queens Hotel recent renovations and improvements.

The Branding

The Queens Hotel Portsmouth logo is made up of four elements: The Queens Crown icon, the Queens Hotel name, the Location descriptor which always appears below the name, and the established date descriptor which always appears above the Crown icon.

The Queens Crown icon has an alternative badge version to be used with other logo components when the space the logo is being shown in is small enough to obscure legibility of the preferred version.

The Queens Hotel Portsmouth’s primary colour palette is both elegant in its restraint and bold in its simplicity. Purple, brown and white represent the brand—strong, rich and pristine. The colours are both modern and classic, gender neutral, luxurious, clean, fresh, and serve as a neutral base to show off great photography.
